The National Open Shooting Dog Championship Association is extremely proud to

announce the Raymond Harbert Award, sponsored by Purina Pro Plan.

The Raymond Harbert Award has been created to recognize the top shooting dog on

the Shooting Dog field trial circuit. The top dog will be determined by using points

accumulated in Shooting Dog National Championship qualifying stakes, which are run

from “National to National,” with the 2026 National Open Shooting Dog Championship

being the first of 80 trials to earn points toward the annual award. Similar to the Joe

Hurdle award, given in Grand Junction for the All Age circuit, points will be accumulated

at a rate of 10/5/3 times the number of starters in the stake. Bonus points will be

awarded to two trials with strict entry requirements, 500 bonus points for the National

Open Shooting Dog Champion and 250 bonus points for the United States Shooting

Dog Invitational Champion. Current standings will be posted on our website and the 2026-27

Raymond Harbert Award winner will be announced at the 2027 National Open Shooting

Dog Championship.
