These are daily notes from the 2019 Championship running. The full report can be read in March 2, 2019 issue of The American Field .
The first brace was delayed until 8:40 due to fog.
1. Sugarknoll War Paint had two finds and a very nice race. He finished the 1:30 strong. Quail Roost Accolade had two finds and was picked up at 1:09 after 2 unproductives.
2. Thrill Me had four finds and a back. His race was strong and he finished up front. Dixie Delight had an unproductive and was picked up at 48.
3. Great River McKenzie had one find and did not finish. Caladen’s Davinci had a back and also did not finish.
4. Steel City Karen had one find and was picked up at 57. CS Pressure Test was lost at breakaway.
5. Bombs Away had one find and a good race put was up at 1:05. Pine Straw Sweet Tea had an error on relocation at 45 to end her bid.
6. Miller’s Vanilla Snow had two finds and an unproductive. Sedgefields Shadow Rises had two finds. Both dogs were picked up at the power line crossing.
7. Bo Bunda had a find and a back. Coosawatchie Smooth Ride had a find and both dogs ran well enough to stay in contention until 1:20.
8. Cory's Early Holy Water had one find and was done at 57. Just Thrillin had two unproductives.
9. CS Coldwater Rex had one find and was up at 57. Miller’s Just Plain Rowdy was lost after the first road crossing.
10. Seekin A Thrill had five finds and an excellent race but had his second unproductive at 1:17 and was harnessed. Bully Bragg had one find and was soon lost.
11. Cheyenne Jack had two finds and one unproductive. He had a good race and finished well. Chelsea’s Thunderbolt had three finds but was lost after the hour mark.
12. Grand Prairie Thrill and Miller’s Honor Code both went birdless and were harnessed at the road crossing.
13. In Swami’s Shadow had four finds and was up with an error at 52. Waybetter Rocky had two finds and two unproductives. His bid ended 53 minutes in.
14. Jayhawk Thunder and Miller’s Locked and Loaded had one find each and were picked up at the hour mark.
15. Deerfield Game had two finds and an unproductive. Zorra had three finds. Both dogs were taken up at the hour.
16. Miller’s Handsome Ransom had one find and ended his bid at 58. Zip Tie went barren and was up at 48.
17. Miller’s Stray Bullet had three finds and a back. Lancelot’s Tall Knight had two finds. Both dogs finished the 90 minute brace.
18. Touch’s Mae Mobley had three finds and a good race. Class Act Express was lost at 30.
19. Urban’s Fantasy had an unproductive. Touch’s Diamante did not have game contact and both dogs were up at 56.
20. Erin’s Prometheus had two finds and one unproductive and finished the brace. Bail Me Out had a his second unproductive 17 at 1:27.
21. Miller’s Unbridled Forever had one find and was up at 57. Hale’s Kickstarter had a back, one unproductive and was lost before the big lake dam.
22. Strut Nation had two finds and was picked up at the hour mark. Foolish Agin was birdless and picked up at 45.
23. Mobile Strike had three finds and was up at 1:11. Backcountry Tornado had two finds and a two unproductives by 40.
24. Jamback’s Johnny Be Good had no bird contacts and was picked up at 1:10. LF Dynomike and two finds and was picked up at 1:18
25. Jessie’s Bojangles had two backs and an unproductive and was picked up at 43. RJ’s Deicer had three finds and a great race but was lost after his third find.
26. American Pharoah had an unproductive and was up at 45. Last year’s Champion, Miller Unfinished Business had one find and a back but didn’t have the race he did last year and was ordered up at the hour mark.
27. Upfront’s Southern Star had one find and an unproductive and was picked up at 1:05. Lone Tree Splish Splash had an error on birds at 35.
28. Charitable Deed had a great race but two unproductives by 40 ended his bid. Miller’s Miss Calamity Jane had one unproductive and picked up at 40.
29. CS Trump was not pleasing his handler and was up at 10. Zumbro Stinky Pete had a find at 35 and was picked up at 45.
30. Tangled Sheets had one find. He made some nice casts but had multiple absences and was picked up at the hour. Miller’s Heat Seeker had two finds and was also picked up at the hour mark.
31. CS Lil’ Ann had an unproductive and was picked up at 36. Northwoods Charles had an error on birds at 4.
32. Pure Gossip had one find but was lost by the hour mark. Erin’s War Creek had two finds and one back and was picked up at 1:19.
33. Mama’s Broken Heart had one find and was up at 57. Hale’s Southern Touch had three finds but and an unproductive and was up at 1:15.
34. Jacked Up Jasper had two finds and was picked up at 55. Born On Fourth of July was lost from the breakaway.
35. Steel City Alabama was loosed and a line of storms rolled in within 15 minutes. He was picked up and will have another chance Wednesday morning.
35. Steel City Alabama had one find and an unproductive and was picked up at the hour mark.
Second Series:
Thrill Me and Touch’s Mae Mobley were called back for a second series. They ran on the first course of the morning side and broke away at 9:36 am. Mae had one find and one back. Thrill had two stylish finds and one unproductive. His ground race was pleasing.
